Letters of Travel

As I mentioned on today’s Zoom, SCC is enforcing the Shelter in Place rather severely with several Realtors I know getting $500 fines for trying to show property to do other non-essential things.

I’ve attached the letter we’ve given out to staff to keep with them as the travel back and forth between the church and their homes. Let me know if you’ve got any questions or want help drafting a similar letter.

Great resource Eric! Thanks for sharing it with us!

Since we are both in Santa Clara County: We contacted the Santa Clara County when the first shelter-in-place order went out. We are categorized as an “Essential Business” under Section 13(f)(vi) as a “other media service” and this language still exists in the March 31 order.

This might be a useful addition to the letter, since the county order is more restrictive than the state order.

We are also required by law in Santa Clara County to create and abide by a formal Social Distancing Protocol, post it at entrances, and provide copies to all folks who are working in our facilities by 11:59pm tonight. Here’s the details from the March 31, 2020 health department order:

For the purposes of this Order, all Essential Businesses must prepare and post by no later than 11:59 p.m. on April 2, 2020 a “Social Distancing Protocol” for each of their facilities in the County frequented by the public or employees. The Social Distancing Protocol must be substantially in the form attached to this Order as Appendix A. The Social Distancing Protocol must be posted at or near the entrance of the relevant facility, and shall be easily viewable by the public and employees. A copy of the Social Distancing Protocol must also be provided to each employee performing work at the facility. All Essential Businesses shall implement the Social Distancing Protocol and provide evidence of its implementation to any authority enforcing this Order upon demand.
